F appears above the On/Off sensor control when one or more sensor controls are covered. Miele describes three variants.
Controls covered
One or more sensor controls were covered for more than about 10 seconds, by a finger, boil-over or an object. Clean the control field or remove the object, then switch on again with the ON/OFF sensor.
Controls not responding
Something covers sensor controls in the area marked yellow in the manual figure, and the hob switches off. After more than 10 s covered, the controls stop responding. Remove the obstruction or soiling and F goes out. Keep the controls and displays clean, and do not put objects or hot cookware on the electronic control module area.
Nothing covering them
If the controls are neither covered nor visibly soiled, barely visible limescale from dried-on water drops may be on them. Clean them thoroughly with a soft cloth and press them again. The F display goes out. If it persists, contact Miele Customer Service.
Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
