F17 is a water intake code, and the cause differs between built-in and countertop machines. Find your type below.

Built-in coffee machines

Miele lists three causes for a built-in machine:

  • The water connection (angle valve) is not open. Check the mains water connection and open it.
  • The fresh water inlet hose is kinked. Undo the kink so water flows freely.
  • The float switch in the water container, on its side, cannot move freely. Shake the container to see whether it moves, and clean the container until it does.

Countertop coffee machines

Here the display means very little water is being drawn in. Fill the water container 3/4 full with fresh drinking water and insert and remove it 10-20 times. On appliances from serial number 152922013 onwards, check the filter in the water intake valve and clean it if dirty. Descale afterwards, following your operating instructions.

If the fault persists, Miele says to contact customer service or book a repair appointment online.
