Error codeF11
ApplianceWasher
Quick answer
F11 on a Miele washing machine means a restricted drain. The manual covers hose height, kinks and cleaning the drain filters and pump.
Model compatibility
Miele reuses codes across series and model years, so F11 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What thiscode means
F11 means the drain is restricted: hose too high or kinked, or drain filter and pump blocked.
F11 on a Miele washing machine means water is not leaving the drum freely. Miele’s support text names three causes.
Where the restriction can be
Hose outlet set too high. The delivery head may not exceed 1 m.
Kinks or loops in the hose. Straighten them out.
Dirty drain filters or a jammed pump. Both need cleaning, described below.
Afterwards, watch the hose
Keep an eye on the hose for a while: the plastic may weaken and tear. Miele says a damaged hose must be replaced and names its Customer Service as the contact for that.
Clearing the filters and pump
Expect standing water in the drum when the outlet is clogged. If the last load was washed hot, that water can scald, so let it out slowly and keep the filters threaded in until the flow is under control.
Power the machine down.
Take off the cover that gives access to the pump, then slide a shallow container under the opening.
Turn each filter a little at a time until water starts to run; turn it back in to pause the stream.
Once the stream dies, remove the filters completely and rinse them until clean.
Check that the pump impellers turn freely. Pick out buttons, coins or similar objects and wipe the pump chamber.
Put each filter back on the side it came from and tighten it all the way. A loose filter drips, and the drips cause damage.
Refit the cover.
If F11 comes back anyway, Miele says to contact its Customer Service or schedule a repair online.
