Error codeF20
ApplianceSteam Oven
Quick answer
F20 means the compartment did not warm by 2 C within 5 minutes of heating-up. Restart, seat the water container, grease the seal.
Model compatibility
Miele reuses codes across series and model years, so F20 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What thiscode means
Compartment did not warm by 2 C within 5 minutes of heating-up.
F20 on a DG, DGC or DGM Miele steam oven means the oven is not getting hot. If the compartment temperature does not rise by at least 2 °C within 5 minutes at the start of heating-up, F20 appears. It can happen, for example, when a large quantity of frozen food is cooked.
All DG, DGC and DGM models
Switch the oven off and on again and restart the programme.
DGC 4000 to DGC 6000 and DG 1000 to DG 5000 with integrated steam generator
If the water container is not fully inserted, push it in until it connects, then switch off and on again.
The coupling seal on the container may need lubricating when the container is hard to insert and remove, or can only be moved with a jolt, or when F20 shows. Use only the silicone grease supplied; margarine, oil or other domestic fats can make the seal swell. Rub a little on the inside of the seal without taking the ring out, push the container in until it connects and switch off and on again.
If the coupling seal is porous or brittle, or a lot of water collects on the floor of the container compartment, the seal has to be replaced; contact Miele Customer Service.
Related codes
F196 and F14 are water faults; F13 is the opposite temperature message, too high.
