Error codeF05
ApplianceSteam Oven
Quick answer
F05 points to a water intake valve that is not fully open, or a water nozzle that needs descaling. Open the valve, then descale the nozzle.
Model compatibility
Miele reuses codes across series and model years, so F05 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What thiscode means
Water intake valve not fully open, or water nozzle scaled or clogged.
F05 shows on the display of a Miele steam oven or combination steam oven. The meaning is one of two things: the water intake valve is not fully open, or the water nozzle is scaled or clogged.
First check: the water intake valve
Open the water intake valve fully and start operation again.
Second check: descale the nozzle
When F05 stays on the display, the nozzle has to be descaled. Be careful: hot steam escapes when the door is opened, and the oven walls, food and accessories are very hot. Open the door carefully and wear oven gloves for anything inside the compartment.
Wait for several buzzer tones.
Open the door, take out the food and leave the door open so the oven cools down.
Remove the side runners and pull out the nozzle.
Descale the nozzle with Miele system descaling agent or a suitable proprietary descaler, then rinse it under running water.
Before the nozzle goes back in, flush through all the parts of the steam oven that carry water: close the door, switch on, choose Steam cooking at 100 °C, set 1 minute and press Start/Stop.
After the cooling down phase ends, open the door and refit the nozzle and side runners.
The oven can then be used as normal. This covers steam and combination steam ovens.
Related codes
F13 has the same two causes but reports an oven compartment temperature that is too high. F12 means water is not reaching the oven and interrupts the programme.
