Error codeWater intake / Open stopcock
ApplianceDishwasher
Quick answer
On Miele dishwashers with a text display, the stopcock is closed or the water inlet is restricted.
Model compatibility
Miele reuses codes across series and model years, so Water intake / Open stopcock may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What thiscode means
Water inlet fault display message: stopcock closed or water inlet restricted.
Miele dishwashers with a text display can show the messages Open stopcock or Water intake, and the warning buzzer sounds. They point to a water inlet problem: the stopcock is closed, or the water inlet is restricted.
Checks from the manual
Open the stopcock fully.
Clean the water-inlet filter.
Check that water pressure is at least 50 kPa.
Cleaning the filter
Switch the dishwasher off first. Turn it off, switch off at the socket and remove the plug, then close the stopcock. Unscrew the water inlet valve and remove the seal from the screw thread. Take hold of the plastic filter slat with pointed pliers and remove the filter, then rinse it under running water. Reassemble in reverse order and screw the thread securely back onto the stopcock. Open the stopcock slowly; if water drips out, tighten the screw thread. Always put the filter back after cleaning.
