Cleaning the drain pump

The pump may be blocked by foreign objects, which are easy to remove.

  1. Disconnect the dishwasher from the mains: turn it off, switch off at the socket and withdraw the plug.
  2. Take the filter combination out of the wash cabinet.
  3. Scoop the water out with a suitable small container or utensil.
  4. Press the catch of the drain pump cover inwards, then tip the cover inwards until it releases.
  5. Rinse the cover under running water and remove all foreign objects.
  6. Carefully remove foreign objects from the pump and turn the impeller by hand. You will feel a little resistance.
  7. Refit the cover by placing it down vertically from above and make sure the catch engages.

Glass splinters are hard to see in the drain pump and can cause injury, and the components are delicate, so work carefully.
