Error codeF173
ApplianceDishwasher
Quick answer
F173 on a Miele dishwasher means the water inlet is blocked or restricted. The manual covers the stopcock, the inlet filter and low pressure.
Model compatibility
Miele reuses codes across series and model years, so F173 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What thiscode means
Water inlet blocked or restricted; inlet filter soiled or water pressure too low.
F173 on a Miele dishwasher reports a blocked or restricted water inlet. Miele gives three possible reasons: the stopcock is closed, the inlet filter is soiled, or the flow pressure at the water hose is too low.
Order of checks
Open the stopcock.
Clean the inlet filter in the water intake valve (steps below). Its plastic housing contains an electrical valve and must stay out of water, so switch the dishwasher off, pull the mains plug and close the stopcock beforehand.
With low flow pressure, give the dishwasher priority for water intake and consult the facility manager or a plumber.
Cleaning the inlet filter
Detach the water intake valve and remove the seal from the screw connection. Use combination or pointed pliers on the filter bar to pull the filter out, then rinse it under running water. Put filter and seal back so both seat correctly, screw the connection onto the stopcock and open the stopcock slowly. Tighten the connection if you see drips.
If F173 remains on the display, Miele points to its Customer Service or a repair booking.
